What the work should include
Count door faces as well as doors. We review the existing coating, surface damage, trim boundaries and whether hardware should be removed for the work. Preparation and finish are planned for the door material; a hollow-core panel and a previously stained wood door need different consideration.
Choices to make before work starts
Select a finish that coordinates with casing and baseboards. Decide whether closet doors, jambs and the narrow door edges are part of the same scope, and how privacy will be maintained while the doors are being worked on.
What affects the estimate and schedule
Panel detail, previous coatings, access and the number of sides change the workload. Send both sides of each door type and identify doors that must remain usable overnight.
